Sensaru presents new generation: S2 Energy Manager takes heating optimisation to the next level

New hardware platform with local intelligence and real-time capabilities

Karlsruhe, 31 August 2026 – Sensaru, a technology company specialising in the digital optimisation of heating systems and the decarbonisation of existing buildings, is introducing Sensaru S2, the new generation of its Energy Manager for residential buildings and office complexes. With S2, Sensaru is consistently advancing its proven solution: individual sensors are evolving into an intelligently orchestrated overall system. The proven principle remains unchanged: Sensaru measures and optimises heating systems non-invasively, without any structural intervention. What is new is the interaction between the components, local optimisation in real time and a hardware platform that can be continuously expanded via software updates.

At the heart of the system is a new hardware platform specifically developed for long-term use. The hardware comprises the S2 Energy Centre, the S2 Heating Circuit Station and the S2 Gateway. These three components work seamlessly together, creating the foundation for intelligent, data-driven optimisation of heating systems.
Edge AI brings optimisation into the boiler room
Another key innovation of Sensaru S2 is local intelligence within the building. In future, optimisation will no longer take place exclusively in the cloud, but also directly on site.
“The intelligence is moving to where decisions need to be made – directly into the boiler room,” explains Matthias Zeh.
From a technical perspective, Sensaru S2 is based on an Edge AI architecture: the AI models are continuously trained in the Sensaru Cloud and then executed locally in the S2 Energy Centre. This enables decisions to be made in real time without cloud latency. Local optimisation also remains available if the connection to the cloud is temporarily interrupted.

With this approach, Sensaru is gradually transforming buildings into Physical AI applications – AI that not only analyses real-world systems, but also measures, optimises and, in the future, controls them.
Optimisation takes place exclusively within clearly defined physical limits. Deterministic control ensures at all times that guaranteed minimum temperatures are maintained. The AI optimises exclusively above this fixed comfort threshold.
Sensaru already enables 17 percent energy savings without refurbishment – measurable on the basis of real operating data.
Platform for fully automated energy management of real estate portfolios
With the new system architecture, Sensaru is pursuing a long-term development approach. The company supports owners and operators through three phases: from optimising existing buildings today, to determining a measured and reliable heating load as a basis for decisions on future modernisation measures (from 2027), through to the subsequent orchestration of a building’s entire energy system (so-called sector coupling, from 2027/2028). This creates a platform that grows step by step with the requirements of its users.
At EXPO REAL 2026, Sensaru will present the new generation of the Energy Manager to the industry for the first time from 5 to 7 October. At Hall A3, Stand TB47, the company will demonstrate the new possibilities S2 opens up for energy optimisation in existing buildings and invite visitors to discuss the future of intelligent heating optimisation.
The Sensaru Energy Manager (S2) will be available from autumn 2026.
